Jasmine officinale, the one that inhabits our gardens, smells of jasmine but with cold notes. It may seem like an unusual expression, yet in the world of fragrances there are cold smells like hot smells.

My olfactory “totem” is the Jasmine Grandiflorum, the favorite among perfumers, which stands out for its warm and creamy nuances. Its collection is a rite of patience: it begins in mid-July and continues until late September. It takes about 8,000 flowers, strictly hand-picked one by one, to obtain a single kilogram of fresh petals, from which just 1 or 2 grams of precious essence will be extracted.

The life cycle of its scent is a journey through time: at dawn, it releases tender, green, and light notes; as the hours pass, it transforms into aromas reminiscent of the orange blossom, culminating, in the dead of night, with warm, animal notes.
