Why wear a fragrance?

We love the idea of minimalism – in a consumerism environment, we reject the notion that we need more: more makeup, more clothes, more stuff. That being said, there is another ditch on the other side of the road. We also reject the misguided notion that we should deprive our lives of things that bring us joy and connection.
Today more and more of us spend more time behind a screen, video chatting instead of meeting face-to-face, streaming a movie instead of visiting a theater, ordering groceries online instead of hand selecting our own produce. Don’t get us wrong, we love the convenience that digital tools can provide, but to the end that the convenience they afford allow us more time for deep, personal connections and immersive experience that enhance our lives.
The kind of connection that feeds the soul often engages one or more of our five physical senses. In her book, Life in Five Senses, Gretchen Rubin captured this sentiment:
That’s one of the reasons we ventured into the world of niche fragrance, to beautifully enhance the experience of those moments when you are physically with others, to ground you in the physical world. So don’t deprive yourself of the indulgence of a wonderful fragrance – make the very most of being close.
